Allison Mahoney

Allison Mahoney is the Founder and Managing Attorney of ALM Law LLC, a boutique civil-rights and victims’ rights law firm dedicated exclusively to representing survivors of sexual abuse, technology-facilitated abuse, intimate partner violence, and children harmed in foster care and delinquency systems.

Mahoney began her career at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where she served on the firm’s pro bono committee and represented survivors of sexual abuse and intimate-partner violence. She then became a prosecutor in New York City, investigating sex crimes, human trafficking, and public-corruption cases. She later joined Lawyers for Children, representing young people in foster care and serving as the organization’s in-house legal expert on cases involving child sexual abuse and exploitation. Most recently, she served as a Senior Staff Attorney and the Interim Deputy Director at A Better Childhood, where she led national investigations into state child welfare system failures and brought civil rights class action lawsuits on behalf of children to reform broken foster care systems.

At ALM Law, Mahoney has built a practice devoted to high-stakes, mission-driven litigation for survivors, holding both perpetrators and the institutions that enable abuse accountable. In the rapidly evolving field of technology-facilitated gender-based violence, she is at the forefront. Mahoney represents clients targeted by image-based sexual abuse (also known as revenge porn and the nonconsensual distribution or threatened distribution of intimate images), cyberstalking, impersonation, deepfakes, sextortion, and other forms of digital sexual harm. Her work includes advocating for survivors within the criminal justice system, engaging in cross-platform takedown strategies, preserving evidence and managing e-discovery, developing civil claims under state and federal law, and helping to craft legislation.

Mahoney serves on the boards of Response Aspen, YouthZone, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the New York Cyber Abuse Task Force and serves on the policy committee of the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault. She is admitted to practice in New York, the District of Columbia, Colorado, and Illinois.
