Alexander C. Pullen, Sr., SHRM-SCP

Alexander C. Pullen Sr., SHRM-SCP, is a human resources expert, DEI scholar, and keynote speaker whose work focuses on transformational leadership, organizational resilience, and inclusive workplace culture. As a doctoral candidate at George Washington University, Pullen's research interests include servant and transformational leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as organizational resilience.

Pullen has developed a career with hands-on impact in a variety of organizations. As a human resources scholar and senior certified professional, he has served as the Inclusion and Belonging Business Partner at HubSpot, where he worked to advance the company's mission of fostering an environment where all employees can succeed regardless of background. In this role, Pullen supported employees from underrepresented groups by leading with empathy and developing solutions to ensure that people, systems, and processes aligned with organizational goals. He has also served as senior people partner and manager of employee experience at Salesloft.

Before his work in the technology sector, Pullen was the lead HR advisor for departmental leadership at George Washington University, overseeing human resources functions for various divisions. His responsibilities included workforce planning, organizational assessment, employee relations counseling and investigations, policy development, training, recruiting and retention, diversity and inclusion, performance management, coaching, and employee recognition. This experience across academic and corporate environments provides Pullen with a comprehensive understanding of the HR landscape.

Pullen has spoken at conferences and events for organizations such as the Society for Human Resource Management, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation, the IDEA User Conference, and local nonprofits in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. As a keynote speaker, he addresses topics including diversity, equity, and inclusion, organizational resilience, and servant leadership. Pullen is recognized for challenging organizations to build cultures of genuine belonging and for holding institutions accountable.
