Alex Haraus

Alex Haraus is an environmental activist and content creator renowned for leveraging social media to promote conservation efforts and climate action. He graduated from DePaul University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, focusing on sustainability.

In August 2020, after losing his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Haraus adopted a nomadic lifestyle, converting a Subaru Outback into his mobile residence. This transition enabled him to immerse himself in nature and document his experiences, aiming to inspire others to appreciate and protect the environment.

Haraus gained significant recognition for playing a leading role in a social media campaign that prompted over 6.3 million young people to submit public comments to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, opposing seismic testing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This initiative contributed to a moratorium on drilling in the area, issued via executive order on President Biden's first day in office.

"Crown Jewels," a documentary he directed that highlights the significance of mature and old-growth forests across the United States and advocates for their permanent protection, was released in 2024.

Through his engaging content, Haraus has amassed a substantial following on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where he shares outdoor adventures and advocates for environmental causes. His efforts have garnered over 100 million views across social media platforms, influencing public opinion and policy on environmental issues.

In recognition of his impactful work, Haraus was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 list in 2025. He collaborates with organizations such as The North Face, REI Co-op, and Patagonia to further his mission of encouraging others to care about nature and take action to protect it.
