At the age of just 21, Murabit founded The Voice of Libyan Women, an organization that promotes inclusive security, peace processes, and faith-supported peacebuilding. She worked alongside influential figures such as President Jimmy Carter and Leymah Gbowee to negotiate and pass numerous resolutions through the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, including Resolutions 2122, 2242, 2467, and 2493. Her leadership was instrumental in shaping the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 70/1, which introduced the Sustainable Development Goals that have transformed the global agenda and impacted billions of people worldwide.

Recognizing her remarkable achievements, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and Antonio Guterres appointed Murabit as a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Advocate, and she spoke at the first-ever 'SDG Moment' during the United Nations General Assembly. Murabit was also appointed as the UN High-Level Commissioner on Health, Employment, and Economic Growth, highlighting her incredible leadership and dedication to improving people's lives worldwide. She's advised more than 40 countries at the Head of State and ministerial levels and held executive leadership roles at several organizations. She's on the Malala Fund, Gavi and Women for Women International boards.
