Biography of Doug Blevins

At the lecture podium, Blevins is one of the nation’s foremost motivators. Proving in his daily life that determination and hard work can shatter seemingly insurmountable obstacles, he inspires audiences to imagine the impossible and take actions to realize their dreams.

In Blevins' first year as kicking coach with the Miami Dolphins he guided kicker Olindo Mare to 28 field goals and 117 points which were the most-ever by a Dolphins rookie or first-year player. Overall in his career with the Dolphins, Blevins coached Mare to connect for 79.4% of field goal attempts, which stands as the highest percent in club history.

Prior to joining the Dolphins, Blevins served as kicking coordinator for the World League from 1995-1997. He resumed his work with the NFL Europe in 1999. Blevins also did consulting work with the New York Jets in 1994 and the New England Patriots in 1996.

A 1988 graduate of East Tennessee State University, Doug Blevins started his coaching career as a student assistant in 1982 while at the University of Tennessee. He worked with the kickers for the Volunteers for two seasons before being named kicking coach at Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia in 1984. He joined the staff at East Tennessee State in 1986, where he served as a consultant with the kickers while also continuing his undergraduate work. Blevins also coached high school football for four years in Virginia before starting his own kicking consulting company in 1993. He still owns and runs Championship Placekicking and Punting which attracts the top players from the high school, college and professional ranks.
