Mr. Robinson is a seasoned CFO with over twenty years of senior global strategic,
financial, operational and governance experience at both Fortune 100 corporations
(Citigroup and Kraft/GF) and high growth mid-sized companies in media, software
and technology (Advo and HotJobs/YAHOO!). Additional industry experience
includes consumer products and marketing service, insurance and diversified
financial services and healthcare.
Currently chairing the Audit Committees of Jones Apparel Group ($5 billion) and
International Wire Group, he is also on the board of Diversified Investment
Advisors, a $70 billion mutual fund. Mr. Robinson previously chaired the
Compensation Committee of Independent Wireless One, which was acquired by
Sprint and Edison Schools. In that capacity, he chaired both the Audit Committee
and Special Independent Committee of the Board in the CEO’s MBO. As Interim CFO
and Special Counsel to the President of Polytechnic University (2002-2004), he
restructured the university, reduced expenses 30% and achieved a balanced
budget.
Mr. Robinson was Senior Executive Vice President and CFO for HotJobs.com (2000-
2002) where he was responsible for all Finance and Administrative functions. After
bringing the company to profitability a year ahead of expectation, he sold HotJobs to
YAHOO! for $500 million, representing a 75% premium to market. Prior to joining
HotJobs, he was Executive Vice President and CFO for PRT Group (1997-1999), a
software and IT services company for which he raised $62 million in its IPO.
In 1994, he was recruited by Warburg Pincus as EVP and CFO for ADVO Inc., the
largest direct marketing company on the NYSE with over $1 billion in revenues.
Over a three year period, he increased shareholder value 300% by divesting nonstrategic businesses; implementing a leveraged recapitalization; and significantly
reducing fixed costs by reducing the white collar work force 20%.
Previously, Mr. Robinson held senior financial positions with Citigroup (1986-
1993) as controller for all global consumer and retail businesses ($6 billion revenues
with 70 businesses in 42 countries and 25,000 people), CFO for the Global Insurance
Division, and CFO for The Travelers Managed Care and Life Insurance businesses
($5 billion revenues and 12,000 people), Mars Inc. (1983-1986) and Kraft/GF
(1973-1983).
Mr. Robinson received an MBA in Finance from Harvard Business School (1973)
and a BA in Economics from The University of Wisconsin (1971). He is active on
the Board of the Harvard Business School Club of NY, Board of Directors of the
University of Wisconsin School of Business and the CFO Advisory Board for Forbes
Magazine. From 1988-1991, he was on the Board of Directors for AMBAC financial
group. He is a frequent speaker at Fortune Magazine, The Conference Board, E&Y
and TIAA-CREF governance conferences.
