Daniel P. Ahn Biography

Dr. Daniel Ahn is adjunct fellow for energy at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), where he focuses on energy, finance, and geoeconomic studies. He is also senior economist and head of commodity portfolio strategy at Citigroup and adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.

Previously, Dr. Ahn was chief U.S. economist at Citadel Investment Group in New York, where he provided research and forecasts for the U.S. and global economies. He has also worked at Barclays Capital and at Lehman Brothers. He has held research and teaching positions at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and the National Bureau of Economic Research. He was also a member of the Energy Security Working Policy Group.

Dr. Ahn's research specializes in international and behavioral finance and the economics of natural security. His research has been cited in Congressional testimony and by the U.S. vice president's office. Dr. Ahn has regularly appeared in various media outlets and periodicals and also advised and consulted for governments and numerous private institutions.

He received his AB in economics and finance with honors from Princeton University and his PhD in economics from Harvard University. In his free time, Dr. Ahn enjoys reading history. He also enjoys listening to classical music and going to Broadway musicals.
