Who is Vinco David
Vinco David combines career and vocation. He is a Senior Manager with the credit insurance multinational Atradius (formerly NCM) and he writes novels. His debut historical novel ‘Mannenharem' (Tale of the 1002nd night) appeared in the Netherlands in 2006. His second historical novel, ‘Achter het riet’ (Behind the cane) was published in December 2009.
Vinco David is of German/Dutch Jewish descent. He was born in Netherlands and lived and worked for years in London. He now works from Amsterdam. In addition to his novels, he writes about business issues that fascinate him. His articles have been published in Dutch and international media.
He has given lectures in recent years in companies, public institutions and at conferences in the Netherlands, Canada, Chile, Turkey, Korea and Germany, which were highly appreciated. Some comments: "A truly expert speaker!", "Very clear speech'', “Einsichtsvoll und zugleich humorvoll”.
Books
His novel ‘Mannenharem’ received much media attention. Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh wrote the foreword to the book, the last book he had wanted to turn into a film. He takes us on a journey through history in which we experience sensations that are usually privy to only the adventurous among us. In his novel ‘Achter het riet’, set in the period of the Dutch conquest of Brazil 400 years ago, Vinco David combines his literary talent with his extensive economic and historical knowledge. He vividly brings to life the West India Company as one of the world's first multinationals, the tulip crisis and the international scramble for natural resources.
