 Bob Watson Biography

The first black General Manager in the history of baseball, Watson has been a champion at all levels of the sport. Most recently, he was the architect of the 2000 U.S Olympic baseball program. Combining the perfect mix of up-and-comers and unheralded veterans, he engineered the team that stunned the world by beating the perennial favorite, Cuba, to capture its first gold medal in Olympic history.

In his first season as General Manager for the New York Yankees in 1996, Watson earned the organization its first World Series since 1978.
