aespa is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment, consisting of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. The group features members from Korea, Japan, and China, alongside four virtual counterparts: ae-Karina, ae-Giselle, ae-Winter, and ae-Ningning. The name aespa combines the initials of "Avatar X Experience" with the English word "aspect" to reflect the concept of each member interacting with a virtual version of herself and entering a new world. aespa is recognized for introducing the metaverse concept and hyperpop music to K-pop.

aespa debuted with the single "Black Mamba," which set a record for the highest number of views in 24 hours for a K-pop group's debut video. "Black Mamba" established the group's blend of virtual-world storytelling and high-production pop.
