Zach Williams

Zach Williams is a Nashville-based Christian rock singer-songwriter whose journey from Southern rock frontman to two-time Grammy winner is a study in redemption and purpose. Born in Pensacola, Florida, and raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Williams grew up in a devout family; his father led worship and his mother sang in the church choir.

In 2007, he co-founded Zach Williams & The Reformation, a Southern rock band that released Electric Revival and A Southern Offering. However, years on the road brought personal turmoil—addiction, a broken marriage and drifting from faith. That changed in 2012 during a tour in Europe, when he experienced a spiritual reckoning and returned home to recommit to his Christian roots.

Williams then led worship at Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro and, in 2016, signed with Essential Records as a solo artist. His debut single, “Chain Breaker,” became a chart-topping anthem and earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song. His 2019 album Rescue Story featured “There Was Jesus,” a duet with Dolly Parton that won a Grammy in 2021. In 2022, he released his third album, A Hundred Highways, further establishing his voice in the contemporary Christian music scene.

Williams’ memoir, "Rescue Story: Faith, Freedom, and Finding My Way Home," published in 2024, candidly recounts his struggles with addiction and spiritual awakening. Alongside his wife Crystal and their blended family of four children, he balances life as a devoted husband, father and artist living near Nashville.

Today, Williams continues to blend Southern rock grit with heartfelt worship, drawing on personal trials and triumphs to connect with audiences. His work remains rooted in the conviction that healing—and powerful music—can emerge from brokenness.
