Yovanka Sánchez

Yovanka Sánchez is a Latin media personality, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and activist whose career spans more than two decades in both on-camera and behind-the-scenes roles. Sánchez began her career in Mexico with Televisa, where she produced and served as DJ for a music television show modeled after MTV and hosted various music award and beauty programs. Her early work established a foundation in visual storytelling and a focus on amplifying underrepresented voices in the media industry.

After her tenure at Televisa, Sánchez advanced within major Hispanic media networks in the United States. She joined Univision, where she worked as a producer and host for the news magazine show "Primer Impacto" and contributed to several prime-time specials. Following her work at Univision, Sánchez founded her own production company, producing and directing documentaries and special interviews for Telemundo Network. These experiences further developed her expertise in Hispanic media, documentary filmmaking, and content production.

Sánchez is the founder of La Mariposa Films, a media brand dedicated to creating content that centers women both in front of and behind the camera. Her production studio has collaborated with partners such as FedEx, WeWork, Babson College, NBC, Hearst Television, and CNN. Sánchez is recognized for her signature style, which incorporates expressionist techniques, rhythmic editing, and slow-motion cinematography to craft immersive visual narratives.

Her work supports women and young girls in developing what she calls the "heroine" story structure for their businesses, lives, or missions. As a keynote speaker, Sánchez addresses topics including diversity and inclusion, female leadership, entrepreneurship, and the impact of storytelling. She is also an advocate for environmental stewardship and has served as an ambassador for the Aptera Solar Car. Through La Mariposa Films and her public speaking, Sánchez continues to promote the representation of women's stories in media and supports initiatives related to gender equality and sustainability.
