Yolett McPhee-McCuin

Yolett McPhee-McCuin, known as Coach Yo, is recognized for her leadership in women's college basketball and her impact on program development. McPhee-McCuin was the first Bahamian woman to sign a Division I basketball scholarship, beginning her collegiate playing career as a point guard at Miami-Dade Community College, where she earned all-state honors and ranked third nationally in assists per game. She later transferred to the University of Rhode Island, appearing in 56 games and contributing to the Rams' appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship game. McPhee-McCuin holds a bachelor's degree in business management and a master's degree in physical education.

McPhee-McCuin advanced her coaching career through assistant positions at institutions including Pittsburgh and Clemson, gaining experience in NCAA Tournament environments and Atlantic Coast Conference competition. She was recognized by National Women's Basketball Insider as a top assistant during her tenure in the ACC. Her first head coaching role came at Jacksonville University, where she guided the program to its first ASUN Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance, ending a seven-year, 71-game home winning streak for Florida Gulf Coast against ASUN opponents.

Following her success at Jacksonville, McPhee-McCuin became the ninth head coach in Ole Miss women's basketball history. She led the Rebels to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and consecutive 20-win seasons, a first in program history. Under her leadership, Ole Miss achieved its first season with wins over three Associated Press top-five opponents, distinguishing the program within the Southeastern Conference.

Internationally, McPhee-McCuin has served as head coach for the Bahamian national team, leading the Bahamas to a Caribbean Basketball Confederation title and becoming the first female coach to win a CBC title. She is a member of the Bahamian Athletic Hall of Fame and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame, where she received the Pathfinder Award for distinguished achievement.

Off the court, McPhee-McCuin advocates for youth development through education and athletics. Her foundation, No Ceilings with Coach Yo, promotes child development and empowerment. She was honored with the Emerging Young Philanthropist Award by the Ole Miss Women's Council for Philanthropy. McPhee-McCuin's work continues to influence women's basketball, coaching, and community engagement.
