Yasmin Benoit

Yasmin Benoit, an English model, is known for her work as an asexual and aromantic activist and researcher. She has appeared in multiple documentaries, including a BBC Three documentary on asexuality and a Sky News documentary in 2019. As an activist, Benoit has been instrumental in raising awareness of asexuality, notably through the hashtag #ThisIsWhatAsexualityLooksLike which she founded in 2019. In the same year, she hosted the first asexual-themed bar at Pride in London in collaboration with the Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN), Budweiser, and Revolt London.

Further establishing her role as an advocate for the asexual community, Benoit joined the board of directors of AVEN in October 2019. She has also made significant strides in media representation, becoming the first openly asexual woman to appear on the cover of a UK magazine, in the December 2019 issue of "Attitude" titled "The Activists". In 2021, she co-founded International Asexuality Day, observed on April 6, and in 2022, launched the Stonewall x Yasmin Benoit Ace Project, an initiative aimed at defending asexual rights.

Benoit's multifaceted contributions to society extend beyond activism. She has written for publications including HuffPost UK and has delivered talks at prominent venues such as the University of Cambridge and King's College London. In 2023, she made history as the first openly asexual grand marshal for the NYC Pride March. Benoit also served as a consultant for Netflix's "Sex Education" and is a Visiting Research Fellow at King's College London's Policy Institute. Her work has earned her recognition, including an Attitude Pride Award in 2021 and the title of Campaigner/Influencer of the Year by the Bank of London Rainbow Honours in 2022.
