Yashaswini Singh

Yashaswini Singh, Ph.D., is a health care economist whose research focuses on the intersection of economics, public policy, and the evolving landscape of American health care delivery. Singh serves as an assistant professor of health services, policy, and practice at Brown University School of Public Health. She holds a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, a graduate degree in international finance from Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from Bryn Mawr College. Before graduate school, Singh worked as a senior analyst in the antitrust and competition practice of National Economic Research Associates Economic Consulting in New York, providing her with both private-sector and academic experience.

Singh's areas of expertise include health care consolidation, corporatization, and the role of private equity firms in the health care sector. Her research examines how acquisitions of physician practices by private equity funds influence physician practice patterns and the downstream effects on health care spending, access, and quality. Singh also investigates private equity's impact on autism therapy services and other emerging areas within health care delivery systems.

Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as "Health Affairs," "The Milbank Quarterly," "Health Services Research," "New England Journal of Medicine," and "Journal of the American Medical Association."
