Yang Yuanqing

Yuanqing Yang is the chairman and chief executive officer of Lenovo, a position he has held since 2009. He joined the company in 1989 and has spent more than three decades leading Lenovo’s transformation from a domestic PC maker into a global technology powerhouse, now operating in more than 180 markets worldwide.

Yang’s tenure at Lenovo is marked by bold strategic moves and sustained growth. Early in his career, he helped establish Lenovo as China’s leading PC brand. As CEO, he oversaw transformative acquisitions, including IBM’s personal computer business and later the IBM x86 server and Motorola Mobility businesses, broadening Lenovo’s products and services. Under his leadership, Lenovo became the world’s largest PC manufacturer and expanded into infrastructure, mobile devices, and solutions and services, accelerating the company’s shift from a device-centric company to a diversified provider of intelligent technologies.

A native of Hefei in Anhui Province, Yang grew up in a family of surgeons and pursued computer science against his parents’ initial wishes. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Science and Technology of China.
