Yandel

Yandel, born Llandel Veguilla Malavé in Cayey, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and record producer recognized for his significant contributions to reggaeton and Latin urban music. Yandel emerged in the late 1990s, shaping the reggaeton genre through energetic performances, chart-topping singles, and innovative production techniques. He met Wisin in school, and the two began performing as a duo in 1998, debuting with the album "Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio." The release of "Pa'l Mundo," co-produced with Luny Tunes, expanded their audience beyond Spanish-speaking listeners and established the duo's presence in the global music industry.

As Wisin & Yandel, the pair built a strong track record in Latin music, founding WY Records and introducing the affiliate group Los Vaqueros, whose self-titled debut reached the Top Ten. Albums such as "Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres" and "Wisin & Yandel Presentan: La Mente Maestra" achieved top positions on the U.S. Latin Albums chart and received platinum certifications in multiple countries. "Revolución: Evolución" sold millions of copies worldwide. The duo earned a Grammy Award, becoming the first reggaeton artists to receive this recognition, and sold over 15 million records. They were also honored with the BMI President's Award at the BMI Latin Awards.

Yandel's solo career has demonstrated his versatility as an artist in the Latin music industry. His album "De Líder a Leyenda" featured collaborations with J Alvarez, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar, reaching number one on the Latin Albums and Latin Rhythms charts and earning a gold certification. The follow-up, "Dangerous," included guest appearances by Shaggy, Lil Jon, and French Montana, and also topped the Latin Albums chart. Yandel performed at the Cotto-Canelo fight, becoming the first Latino to perform during an HBO pay-per-view event. His solo achievements include two Latin Grammy Awards for Best Urban Fusion Performance and Best Urban Song, a Latin American Music Award for Album of the Year, and multiple BMI Awards.

Yandel has continued to influence reggaeton and Latin urban music, releasing the 17-track LP "Resistencia," which featured collaborations with Wisin, Maluma, and Young Miko and reached number 12 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. He collaborated with Colombian artist Feid on the EP "MANIFESTING 20-05," with singles such as "Yandel 150" achieving significant streaming success. At the Latin American Music Awards, Yandel won Best Collaboration – Urban for "Yandel 150" and received the Pioneer Award for his contributions to Latin urban music. He released "SINFÓNICO," a 29-track album recorded live in Miami with the Florida International University Symphony Orchestra, and performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Both as a solo artist and as part of Wisin & Yandel, Yandel remains a prominent figure in reggaeton, known for his ability to innovate and adapt within the evolving landscape of Latin music.
