Ximena Sariñana

Ximena Sariñana is a Mexican singer-songwriter and actress whose career spans music and film. Known for her introspective adult alternative pop with jazz influences, Sariñana often structures her songs around the piano. Her debut album, "Mediocre," reached number two on the Mexican album chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album. Sariñana has been nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards and cites influences such as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, experimental jazz, and Latin American music.

Sariñana began her acting career in childhood, making her screen debut in her father's film "Hasta Morir." She appeared in telenovelas including "Luz Clarita" and "María Isabel," and performed the theme song for "Luz Clarita." Her film credits include "Amar Te Duele," "Niñas Mal," and "Dos Abrazos," which won the Tribeca Best New Narrative Filmmaker Award. As a songwriter, Sariñana contributed three compositions to the soundtrack of "Amar Te Duele."

Transitioning to a full-time music career, Sariñana released "Mediocre," which sold more than 50,000 copies in its first month and was certified platinum. The album received critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone describing it as one of the strongest debuts from a female singer-songwriter since Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me."

Sariñana followed her debut with a self-titled album, her first primarily in English, and later released "No Todo lo Puedes Dar," co-produced by John Congleton, Jim Eno of Spoon, and Alejandro Rosso of Plastilina Mosh. She has appeared in the comedy series "Un Man Date" and released the studio albums "¿Dónde Bailarán las Niñas?" and "Existencia Kamikaze."

Sariñana has contributed to film soundtracks as both performer and music supervisor and has toured in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Japan. She served as a judge on the TV talent competition "Mexico Tiene Talento." Sariñana's ability to work across languages, genres, and artistic mediums positions her as a significant figure in contemporary Latin music and culture.
