William Brangham

William Brangham is a correspondent and producer for "PBS NewsHour" in Washington, D.C. He joined the flagship PBS program over 10 years ago, after spending two years with "PBS NewsHour Weekend" in New York City.

Brangham started his career as a research assistant and later, as an associate producer and field producer for a number of Bill Moyers documentaries. Additionally, he worked on a variety of documentary films and projects for ABC News, National Geographic's "Explorer" series, PBS, and The New York Times documentary series "Science Times."

After 9/11, Brangham re-joined Moyers' production company for the PBS newsmagazine "Now," where he shot, wrote, and produced dozens of broadcast stories and interviews over a period of six years. After that, he was a producer on the revived "Bill Moyers Journal," and later joined the PBS magazine show "Need to Know" as a producer, cameraman, and occasional correspondent.

Awards Brangham has won for his journalism include a 2015 Peabody Award for his reporting on the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe. PBS NewsHour's six-part series "The End of AIDS?", for which Brangham was the correspondent, won him a News & Documentary Emmy Award, as did "On the Fire Line," a series that investigated rape, harassment, and retaliation within the U.S. Forest Service, and the three-part series "Stopping a Killer Pandemic," which looked at U.S. preparations for a flu pandemic.
