Will Muschamp

Will Muschamp currently serves as the defensive coordinator at The University of Texas at Austin, a position he shares with Johnny Nansen. Prior to this, he made significant contributions to the University of Georgia, where he served as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs football team. His time at Georgia was marked by success, as he was part of the coaching staff when the team clinched the national championship in 2021 and 2022. Muschamp's coaching career is characterized by his ability to lead strong defensive teams, a skill that was recognized during his time at LSU in 2003 when his defense led the nation in both scoring and total defense, contributing to the team's BCS Championship win.

Before Georgia, Muschamp served as the head football coach at two major universities. He was at the helm of the University of Florida's football program from 2011 to 2014 and led the team to a mixed record, including an 11-2 season in 2012. Despite struggling offensively, the team achieved a top 10 defense under his leadership. He was also chosen as the successor to Mack Brown at the University of Texas, a role that saw an increase in his salary. Muschamp's tenure at Florida ended in 2014 after a series of losses, and he transitioned to Auburn as the defensive coordinator, signing a deal that made him the highest-paid defensive coordinator in college football at that time.

Muschamp's coaching journey continued at the University of South Carolina where he was appointed as the 34th head football coach in 2016. He led the Gamecocks to a 26-19 win over Michigan in the Outback Bowl during his second season. Despite a promising start, Muschamp was relieved of his duties during the 2020 football season. He then moved to Georgia where he served as a defensive analyst before being promoted to special teams coordinator and co-defensive coordinator. Despite his team's victory over Alabama and TCU in the National Championships, Muschamp transitioned to an off-field analyst role in 2024. His return to Texas as the defensive coordinator was announced in December 2025.
