Wendy McMahon is the former President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures at Paramount Global and prior President of the ABC Owned Stations at The Walt Disney Company, with a record of success driving audience and revenue growth across platforms and developing industry-leading news and information products and experiences.
She is recognized in the industry for her extensive news, creative, programming, marketing and digital expertise, as well as pioneering the uses of data and technology to deepen audience engagement and drive operational modernization.
During her tenure as President of the ABC Owned Television Stations, her team of 1500+ achieved a number of historical successes:
- Achieved 12 consecutive years of collective local news leadership in 2020 as well as its largest competitive advantage in a decade.
- Introduced 32 connected television apps in 2020, driving a record-breaking 1.7B minutes streamed in one year
- Produced 21,000 hours annually of original content for linear and streaming channels
- Named 2020 Television Group of the Year (Broadcasting and Cable) and 2019 Multi-Platform Broadcaster of the Year (TV NewsCheck)
McMahon’s prior role was Senior Vice President: Digital - ABC Owned Television Stations, in which she crafted a multi-platform future for the group; led content, product, data and audience development teams; led the pivot to streaming; developed the first video-centric sites and connected TV apps; and built in-house data and analytics teams.
Her ability to not just envision the future of media but execute for it has resulted in notable individual achievements including being named the 2019 Digital Leader of the Year (National Association of Broadcasters) and the 2019 Young Alumna of the Year (Louisiana State University). Throughout her career, she has received numerous Emmy, Promax, Telly and Broadcast Design (BDA) awards.
McMahon graduated Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana State University with a BA degree in Mass Communication/Broadcast Journalism.
