Walt Weiss

Walt Weiss began his journey in the world of baseball as a professional shortstop, playing in the Major League from 1987 to 2000. He represented teams such as the Oakland Athletics, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, and Atlanta Braves. In his early career, Weiss made significant strides, earning the title of AL Rookie of the Year in 1988. His exemplary performance didn't go unnoticed; he was subsequently selected for the National League All-Star Team in 1998. Weiss's prowess on the field also led to him becoming a two-time World Series champion, securing victories in 1989 with the Oakland Athletics and later in 2021 with the Atlanta Braves, albeit in a coaching capacity.

Upon retiring as a player, Weiss transitioned into a coaching role, serving the Atlanta Braves from 2018 to 2025. His dedication and strategic acumen were key contributors to the Braves' 2021 World Series victory, where he participated as a bench coach. This achievement not only added another championship to his tally but also solidified his position within the organization. On November 3, 2025, Weiss was named the manager of the Atlanta Braves, a role he had been preparing for during his tenure as a coach.

Prior to his current role, Weiss managed the Colorado Rockies from 2013 to 2016, where he recorded 283 wins and 365 losses. Despite the challenges, this experience provided him with valuable insights into the dynamics of team management. His strategic decision-making and leadership skills were further recognized when he was approached for the Miami Marlins managerial position in 2022, an offer he respectfully declined.
