Vinod Khosla

Vinod Khosla is a venture capitalist known for his impact on Silicon Valley and technology entrepreneurship. He is a co-founder of Sun Microsystems and the founder of Khosla Ventures. Khosla holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, a master's in biomedical engineering from Carnegie Mellon, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, which led him to Silicon Valley. After Stanford, Khosla co-founded Daisy Systems, a computer-aided design platform for electrical engineers that achieved significant revenue and went public. He then co-founded Sun Microsystems with Andy Bechtolsheim, Bill Joy, and Scott McNealy, serving as its founding CEO and advancing open systems and commercial RISC processors. Within five years, Sun Microsystems reached $1 billion in annual sales.

Following his tenure at Sun Microsystems, Khosla joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as a general partner, where he played a key role in venture investments including Nexgen, Juniper Networks, and Cerent Corporation, which was acquired by Cisco for $7.8 billion. Khosla later established Khosla Ventures, focusing on technology investments with the potential to reshape society.
