Vineet Mittal

Vineet Mittal is the chairman of Avaada Group and a prominent figure in India's clean energy sector. An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Mittal has established a career as a serial entrepreneur, initially working in the information technology and business process outsourcing industries before focusing on renewable energy. He founded Welspun Energy, which became India's largest renewable energy company with 1.2 gigawatts of installed capacity, and later oversaw its sale to Tata Power. Mittal subsequently established Avaada Group, an integrated energy conglomerate with interests in renewable energy, solar photovoltaic manufacturing, and green hydrogen, supporting India's sustainability objectives.

Mittal's leadership has positioned Avaada Group as a key player in India's pursuit of energy self-reliance and decarbonization. Under his direction, the company has completed significant projects, including India's first 15-megawatt solar installation and a 1,250-megawatt solar project. Avaada Group has expanded into wind, pumped hydro, and battery storage solutions, and participates in the government's Production-Linked Incentive scheme for solar manufacturing.

Mittal is a public speaker and industry thought leader, appearing at events such as the World Economic Forum, Milken Institute Global Conference, and CII Harit Sagar Conference, where he discusses clean energy and maritime sustainability. He holds positions on national committees, including the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s sub-committee on hydrogen usage and standards, and chairs the CII National Council on Climate Change. Mittal has received the Solar Man of the Year title twice, reflecting his expertise in India's renewable energy industry.
