Vince Young

Vince Young is recognized as one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in college football, known for a standout performance that led Texas to a national championship. Young delivered a memorable showing in the Rose Bowl, completing 30 of 40 passes for 267 yards, rushing for 200 yards—a Rose Bowl record among quarterbacks—and scoring the game-winning eight-yard touchdown run on fourth down with 19 seconds remaining. This victory concluded a season in which Young became the first player in FBS history to surpass 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a single season.

Young finished his college career as Texas's winningest quarterback with a 30-2 record as a starter. He received several major awards, including the Maxwell, Davey O'Brien, and Manning Awards, was a consensus first-team All-American, and finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up. Young played a pivotal role in Rose Bowl victories over Michigan and top-ranked USC, becoming the fourth player in Rose Bowl history to earn two MVP awards. He is a member of the Longhorn Hall of Honor, and his No. 10 jersey is one of only six retired by Texas. Young is also enshrined in the Rose Bowl, State of Texas Sports, and Texas High School Football halls of fame, and is the 19th Longhorn player inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

After his collegiate career, Young was selected third overall by the Tennessee Titans in the NFL Draft. He earned the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and was known for his dual-threat abilities, combining passing and rushing skills. Young was selected to two Pro Bowls and, during five seasons with the Titans, threw for 8,098 yards and scored 54 touchdowns, winning 64 percent of his starts. His rookie season performance led to his appearance as the cover athlete for the video game "Madden NFL 08."

Following his playing career, Young returned to the University of Texas as an associate coach, focusing on mentoring quarterbacks and sharing his expertise in football strategy and leadership.
