Vic Schaefer

Vic Schaefer holds the reputable position of head women's basketball coach at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to this role, Schaefer had an impactful stint at Mississippi State, leading his team to significant success, which included two National Runner-up finishes. One of his most notable achievements during this tenure was a historic win over Connecticut in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, bringing an end to UConn's 111-game win streak.

Throughout his career, Schaefer has amassed a number of accolades for his coaching prowess. In 2018, he was recognized as the Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year, the USBWA National Coach of the Year, and the WBCA National Coach of the Year. Further adding to his accomplishments, he was also awarded the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2023. Under his leadership, his teams have reached the NCAA tournaments multiple times and made it to the Final Four on several occasions.

Before stepping into the limelight as head coach, Schaefer served as an assistant coach for the Texas A&M Aggies women's basketball team. His assistance was instrumental in their victory during the NCAA championship in the 2010-11 season. In addition to his NCAA success, Schaefer has led his teams to multiple conference titles, including SEC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, and Big 12 Regular Season titles.
