Uri Dadush

Uri Dadush is a school of public policy professor at University of Maryland. He is an international economist recognized for his leadership in global economic policy and research. He serves as Senior Associate and Director of the International Economics Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where his work focuses on trends in the global economy, the repercussions of the global financial crisis, and the shifting balance of economic power toward developing countries. His research explores how the growing weight of emerging markets influences international financial flows, trade, and migration, as well as the policy and governance challenges that accompany these transformations.

A French citizen, Dadush previously held senior leadership roles at the World Bank, where he served for six years as Director of International Trade and for three years as Director of Economic Policy. Over an eleven-year period, he concurrently directed the Bank’s World Economy Group, overseeing the preparation of its flagship reports on the international economy. In these roles, he played a central part in shaping analysis and policy guidance during a period marked by globalization, financial volatility, and the rapid rise of emerging markets.

Before joining the World Bank, Dadush built a distinguished career in the private sector. From 1986 to 1992, he was President and CEO of the Economist Intelligence Unit and Business International, both part of the Economist Group. Earlier, he served as Group Vice President, International, at Data Resources, Inc. (1982–1986), now part of IHS Markit, and began his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company in Europe.

Throughout his career, Dadush has combined rigorous economic analysis with practical policy engagement, contributing to international debates on globalization, development, and economic governance.
