Tyler Haney is an entrepreneur best known as the founder of Outdoor Voices, the direct-to-consumer activewear brand she launched in 2013 with a mission to redefine fitness culture. Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Haney grew up immersed in an outdoor lifestyle that emphasized recreation and movement over competition. After studying at Parsons School of Design, she moved to New York City and set out to build a brand that celebrated what she called “Doing Things” — everyday activity done for joy rather than performance.

Under Haney’s leadership, Outdoor Voices quickly became one of the most talked-about startups of the 2010s, attracting significant venture capital funding and cultivating a loyal community through grassroots events, inclusive marketing, and a distinct color-blocked aesthetic. She was widely recognized as a new face of millennial entrepreneurship and was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. Her approach challenged the high-intensity, elite-athlete branding common in the athletic apparel industry, positioning Outdoor Voices as a lifestyle movement centered on accessibility and community.

In 2020, Haney stepped down from her role as CEO amid internal leadership changes, marking a pivotal chapter in both her career and the company’s trajectory. She returned to Outdoor Voices in 2024 to lead a brand relaunch and creative overhaul, re-energizing the company’s “Doing Things” ethos for both original fans and new audiences. Her role now centers on product, brand, and community strategy as the label relaunches with refreshed designs and a broader lifestyle focus.

Beyond apparel, Haney is active in the startup ecosystem as a founder, advisor, and investor, including launching new ventures focused on community-driven consumer brands. She founded Try Your Best (TYB), a community commerce and loyalty platform that leverages Web3-inspired tools to help consumer brands deepen engagement with fans — a business that has raised significant venture funding and counts hundreds of brands and millions of users on its platform. She also launched Joggy, a plant-based energy drink brand that has gained retail distribution.
