Tunde Adebimpe

Tunde Adebimpe is a musician, singer-songwriter, actor, director, and visual artist whose work spans music, film, animation, and fine art. Adebimpe is recognized as the co-founder, co-vocalist, and principal songwriter for TV on the Radio, an art-rock band that emerged from New York City's early-2000s rock scene. He studied film and animation at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, which provided a foundation for his visual art and screen careers.

Adebimpe co-founded TV on the Radio with guitarist and producer Dave Sitek. Initially the sole lead vocalist, he was later joined by co-lead vocalist and guitarist Kyp Malone. Together, the trio wrote and recorded the band's debut album, "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes." TV on the Radio's blend of post-punk, electronic music, soul, and funk set the group apart within the New York music scene. The band's albums, including "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes," "Dear Science," and "Nine Types of Light," achieved both commercial success and critical acclaim. After the release of "Dear Science," which reached number 12 on the U.S. 200 Albums Chart and was certified gold in Europe, Adebimpe pursued solo projects and collaborated with artists such as Massive Attack on the track "Pray for Rain" and Run The Jewels on "Thieves! (Screamed The Ghosts)" from "Run the Jewels 3."

Adebimpe is also active as an illustrator, painter, animator, and actor. He appeared as the groom in Jonathan Demme's "Rachel Getting Married" and has acted in films including "Twisters," "Spider-Man: Homecoming," and "Marriage Story." His television credits include roles in "Adventure Time," "Perry Mason," and "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew." He has provided voice acting for animated series such as "Strange Planet," "Lazor Wolf," "Pantheon," and "Tuca & Bertie."

Adebimpe's debut solo album, "Thee Black Boltz," features songwriting that explores the human condition, reflecting both societal unease and personal loss. The album, released by Sub Pop, showcases his ability to blend confessional lyrics with innovative sounds. Beyond music and film, Adebimpe maintains an active practice in design, drawing, and painting. He art directed all of TV on the Radio's album covers and painted the cover for the band's single "Mercy." Adebimpe's multidisciplinary approach and contributions to music, film, and visual art have established him as a versatile figure in contemporary creative industries.
