Trey Songz

Trey Songz, born Tremaine Aldon Neverson, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, rapper, and actor known for his contributions to contemporary R&B music. Raised in a military family, Neverson did not initially pursue a musical career due to his shyness, stating that singing became a possibility only after others recognized his talent. His career began after competing in a local talent show, where he attracted the attention of New Jersey-based music producer Troy Taylor. After being discovered by Taylor, Songz signed with Songbook Entertainment in a joint venture with Atlantic Records.

Songz developed his career with a series of successful albums. His debut album, "I Gotta Make It," entered the Billboard 200 at number 20, followed by "Trey Day," which peaked at number 11. The single "Can't Help but Wait" from "Trey Day" reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards. His third album, "Ready," peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, featured the top-ten single "Say Aah" with Fabolous, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album. During this period, Songz also served as the opening act for Jay-Z on the Jay-Z Fall Tour.

The album "Passion, Pain & Pleasure" marked a commercial breakthrough, with the lead single "Bottoms Up" featuring Nicki Minaj reaching number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. His fifth album, "Chapter V," debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, supported by the Grammy-nominated single "Heart Attack." His sixth album, "Trigga," also debuted atop the Billboard 200 and included the successful single "Slow Motion." Songz has released additional albums, including "Tremaine" and "Back Home," and has sold more than 32 million records worldwide in singles and albums.

In addition to his music career, Songz has appeared in film and television. He played the male lead in "Texas Chainsaw 3D" and appeared in films such as Tyler Perry's "Boo! A Madea Halloween." He also had a recurring role on the TV show "Star." His television appearances include programs such as Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Late Show With David Letterman, and his own MTV documentary series, "Trey Songz: My Moment," which followed his experiences as an opening act on the Jay-Z Fall Tour.

Outside of entertainment, Songz founded the Angels With Heart Foundation, which provides financial assistance to individuals affected by natural disasters or living below the poverty line. He has received recognition at the Soul Train Music Awards, earning the Best R&B/Soul Artist Male honor. With a career spanning nearly two decades, multiple Grammy nominations, and chart-topping albums, Songz continues to be a significant figure in modern R&B, music production, and entertainment.
