Tony Vitello

Tony Vitello embarked on his career in sports management as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers baseball team in 2017. In his second season, he led the Volunteers to their first 40-win season and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005. Under Vitello's guidance, the team made multiple appearances at the NCAA regionals (2019, 2021–2024), NCAA super regionals (2021–2024), and the College World Series (2021, 2023, 2024). His leadership culminated in leading the Tennessee Volunteers to their first-ever College World Series National Championship in 2024.

A testament to his effective coaching and leadership, Vitello was repeatedly recognized at the national level. He was awarded the NCBWA Coach of the Year in 2021, an honor that was followed by winning the Perfect Game Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, he was honored as the SEC Coach of the Year, a year that saw Tennessee achieve a record 57 victories and their first-ever No. 1 national seed. The peak of his coaching career was reached in 2024 when he was named the ABCA National Coach of the Year after leading Tennessee to win the National Championship.

In 2025, Vitello made an unprecedented transition from a college program to managing an MLB team, becoming the manager of the San Francisco Giants. This marked him as the first individual to make such a direct transition without prior professional coaching experience.
