Tommy Baldwin Jr.

Tommy Baldwin Jr. is a second-generation NASCAR veteran whose career spans multiple decades as a crew chief, team owner, and executive in stock car racing. A former Daytona 500-winning crew chief with Ward Burton and NASCAR Cup Series owner for more than 10 years, Baldwin has established a significant presence in the motorsports industry. His early interest in racing was influenced by his father, Tom "Tiger" Baldwin Sr., a competitor in Modified racing, which shaped Baldwin's approach throughout his career.

Before becoming a team owner, Baldwin developed a reputation as a capable NASCAR crew chief. He accumulated five career NASCAR Cup Series wins as a crew chief, with four of those victories—including the Daytona 500 and the Southern 500—coming with Ward Burton, and one with Kasey Kahne. After joining Evernham Motorsports as crew chief for Kahne, the driver earned NASCAR Rookie of the Year honors and secured his first win at Richmond International Raceway under Baldwin's leadership. These achievements reinforced Baldwin's status as a results-driven leader in NASCAR.

Baldwin later restarted Tommy Baldwin Racing as a Sprint Cup Series operation, initially composed of volunteers from other organizations. The team qualified for the Daytona 500 and finished 25th. Over the years, Tommy Baldwin Racing became a resilient independent operation, competing in full-time efforts with drivers such as Dave Blaney, Michael Annett, J.J. Yeley, Reed Sorenson, Regan Smith, and Alex Bowman. The team participated in more than 400 races in 10 years as a car owner in the NASCAR Cup Series. Tommy Baldwin Racing also partnered with Stewart-Haas Racing, enabling Stewart-Haas to field a car for rookie Danica Patrick in 10 Sprint Cup races, starting with the Daytona 500.

After stepping back from Cup Series ownership, Baldwin returned to his Modified racing roots. With four different drivers, his team won the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour owners championship, achieving five victories in 16 events. Doug Coby secured three wins, Jimmy Blewett won at Wall Stadium Speedway, and Mike Christopher Jr. earned his first series win at Jennerstown Speedway. Baldwin currently serves as Competition Director for Rick Ware Racing, where his experience supports the organization's technical alliance with Roush Fenway Keselowski.

Baldwin has faced personal adversity, including a diagnosis of a treatable form of cancer. He underwent intensive treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation, and was later declared cancer-free. Throughout his recovery, Baldwin received support from his family and the NASCAR community, which organized initiatives such as #BaldwinStrong stickers on race cars to benefit the Matheny School for special needs children. Baldwin's resilience and career in motorsports continue to make him a respected figure in NASCAR and stock car racing.
