Tom Lee

Tom Lee is a widely recognized macro strategist in the financial industry, with nearly three decades of experience in equity research and market strategy spanning both traditional finance and the digital asset sector. Lee is known for an evidence-based, data-driven approach and has made several contrarian market calls, introducing institutional investors to Bitcoin early in its adoption. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, concentrating in finance and accounting. Lee is a CFA charterholder and an active member of the CFA Society of New York and the New York Economic Club.

Lee began his finance career in the early 1990s as a research associate at Kidder, Peabody & Company and later at Oppenheimer & Co. He spent 15 years at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., serving as Chief U.S. Equity Strategist and Managing Director. Throughout his career, Lee has been consistently ranked by Institutional Investor, earning top positions for 15 consecutive years. A notable dispute with wireless operator Nextel, reported by the Wall Street Journal under the headline "Unhappy Firm Bites Back," became a defining moment, highlighting his commitment to data-driven research.

Lee co-founded Fundstrat Global Advisors, an independent market strategy and research firm, where he serves as managing partner and head of research. At Fundstrat, Lee has focused on making institutional-quality financial research accessible to a broader audience. The firm has grown to over 30 full-time employees and serves hedge funds, mutual funds, and family offices in more than 26 countries. Lee also founded Fundstrat Capital, where he is chief investment officer and portfolio manager. He manages the Fundstrat Granny Shots ETF suite (NYSE: GRNY, GRNJ, GRNI), including GRNY, which is recognized as one of the most successful equity ETF launches in recent decades.

Lee was the first major Wall Street strategist to provide formal research coverage of Bitcoin to clients. He published the report "A Framework for Valuing Bitcoin as a Substitute for Gold," proposing Bitcoin's potential as a store of value. Lee's career shifted toward digital assets when he became chairman of the board at Bitmine Immersion Technologies, guiding its transformation from a Bitcoin mining operation to a major Ethereum treasury company. He launched a $250 million private placement to expand ETH holdings, positioning Bitmine as one of the largest public ETH treasuries. Bitmine maintains a treasury of more than 5.7 million ETH, representing over 4.7 percent of the Ethereum circulating supply and valued at nearly $10 billion. Lee has also expanded Bitmine's balance sheet into strategic investments, including a $200 million stake in Beast Industries, aligning with his thesis that the creator economy and AI agents will drive Ethereum network adoption.
