Tom Ellis Biography
Tom Ellis first gained prominence through his portrayal of Gary Preston in the BBC One sitcom "Miranda," a role he held from 2009 to 2015. However, he garnered wider recognition for his portrayal of Lucifer Morningstar in the Fox/Netflix series "Lucifer," which ran from 2016 to 2021. His performance in this series was widely appreciated and culminated in a 2021 Tell-Tale TV Award for Favorite Actor in a Cable or Streaming Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror Series. Ellis also made an appearance in the Arrowverse crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths" in 2019.
In addition to his work in television series, Ellis has also made a foray into film. In 2024, he starred in the Netflix romantic comedy film "Players." The same year, he lent his voice to the character GodCat in the animated series "Exploding Kittens." These roles showcased Ellis' versatility and his ability to adapt to different genres and formats, whether it be live-action or animation, comedy or drama. In 2025, he was featured in Netflix's "The Thursday Murder Club."
Ellis has been cast in several promising projects. He is set to play the leading role in the upcoming CBS series "CIA" and will also feature as a series regular named Oliver in Season 2 of "Tell Me Lies." Furthermore, he has been cast as Christopher 'Titch' Wilde in the upcoming series "Washington Black," due for release in 2025.
