Todd Conner

Todd Conner is an actor, writer, and live storyteller whose career encompasses more than 100 professional projects across theater, film, and television. Conner began his professional journey at Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theatre of North Carolina, before receiving formal training as a stage director at The Directors Company in New York. Over the course of his career, Conner has established himself as a versatile performer on both the classical stage and in front of the camera, earning an LA Weekly Award and working under the direction of Maria Ley-Piscator and Charles Marowitz.

Conner's stage work demonstrates a broad range and ambition. He received the Hendrix-Murphy Playwriting Award for his play "The Grendelmas," which was first produced and directed at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and later staged at Hendrix College. His adaptation and direction of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" set box office records at Dallas Theatre Center. Conner also served as artistic director of The Playwrights Project in Dallas, mentoring the work of North Texas playwrights. He completed an M.A. in creative writing at Wilkes University, further developing his craft as a writer and storyteller.

Conner's signature work is his solo performance event, "Uncle Ovid's Storytime & Stand-up Metamorphoses," which he conceived, translated, and adapted from Ovid's ancient Roman epic. Premiering in Beverly Hills, the show has been performed in schools and professional theaters from California to New York, noted for its direct and modern immediacy. Using only his voice, body, a few props, minimal lighting, and a harp for which he composed the accompaniment, Conner's performance emphasizes storytelling at its roots. This approach reflects his belief in the human being as the essential medium of artistic expression, a philosophy influenced by his experience at Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

On screen, Conner has appeared in a range of television productions. He guest-starred as Mayor Tipton in Hulu's mystery-comedy series "Only Murders in the Building," co-starred in HBO's drama "The Deuce," and appeared in CBS's "Walker Texas Ranger." His film credits include the road film "Love and a .45." Beyond performance, Conner is an active live emcee and keynote speaker. His interactive presentations on the art and technology of storytelling, including perspectives on human narrative in relation to artificial intelligence, position him as a voice for audiences exploring the evolving landscape of storytelling and media.
