Toby Miller

Toby Miller is an American professional halfpipe snowboarder known for his dynamic presence and resilience in competitive snowboarding. A native of Tahoe, Miller began his professional snowboarding career early, securing USASA National titles and sponsorships at age 13. Before focusing exclusively on halfpipe, he won the USASA National Championships multiple times in both halfpipe and slopestyle. Miller later claimed victory at the Burton European Open Jr Jam and joined the U.S. Snowboarding Halfpipe team at 14. His achievements on the Rev Tour circuit, including a second-place finish at the Junior World Championships in Yabuli, China, led to invitations to Grand Prix World Cup events and entry onto the professional tour.

Miller has competed at the highest levels of the sport, including his first X Games appearance, where he finished fifth. He went on to win the Junior World Championships in New Zealand and earned his first professional podium with a second-place finish at the Copper Mountain World Cup in Colorado, followed by a third-place result at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge. Miller also placed fourth at the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle Ski and Freeski World Championships, where he was the only American to qualify for the halfpipe snowboarding final. Throughout his career, Miller has trained with notable figures in snowboarding, including JJ Thomas and Shaun White. White, a five-time Olympian and three-time Olympic gold medalist, has served as both a mentor and friend to Miller.

Miller's career has included significant injuries, such as a broken ankle during the Dew Tour in Breckenridge and a shattered wrist at the World Cup in Calgary, which required two surgeries. After recovering, he achieved third place at the X Games SuperPipe Session in Aspen. Miller has discussed the challenges of injury recovery and emphasizes the importance of emerging from setbacks stronger both mentally and physically.

In addition to his competition achievements, Miller has contributed to snowboarding media and content creation. He filmed two segments with Warren Miller for their 75th film and documents his travels and experiences on his YouTube channel. While halfpipe remains his primary discipline, Miller also explores backcountry snowboarding, reflecting his passion for the sport's culture and roots. Miller continues to be recognized for his competitive drive, adaptability, and commitment to snowboarding both on and off the mountain.
