Thomas Suarez

Thomas Suarez is a software and electronics engineer recognized for his contributions to augmented reality, spatial computing, and human-computer interaction. Suarez taught himself to code at a young age and began publishing apps on Apple's App Store, gaining recognition within the developer community. His early interest in technology and programming led him to learn Python, Java, and C, and he built his first app, "Earth Fortune," which was accepted into the App Store. After developing iPhone apps such as "Bustin Jeiber," a whack-a-mole game, Suarez began using his skills to help other young developers.

At age 12, Suarez delivered a TEDx Talk on the importance of computer science, which has garnered millions of views. He later prototyped a modular 3D printer and augmented reality glasses, received venture capital funding, and became a Thiel Fellow. Suarez also started an app club at school to support peers in building and sharing their creations and launched his own company, CarrotCorp. In his TEDx talk, Suarez emphasized the need for coding skills as a foundation for future careers and advocated for youth to teach older generations about emerging technology.

Suarez studied at Georgia Tech and contributed to the Contextual Computing Group's research in human-computer interaction before taking a leave of absence to focus on his AR technology and creator tools startup. He co-founded and served as CEO of Teleportal, an augmented reality and 3D creator tools company, leading engineering projects and raising significant venture funding. Suarez later returned to the TEDx stage to discuss his ongoing projects and vision for the future of AR and spatial computing.

With over 12 years of experience in AR/VR, software, and hardware development, Suarez is a second-time founder and engineer. He leads Raven Resonance, an augmented reality research lab focused on developing wearable smart glasses and a custom operating system for intuitive interaction with apps and physical devices. Based in San Francisco, Suarez integrates software, electronics, and product design to prototype wearable spatial-computing hardware and user-friendly operating systems. Suarez is known for his work in innovation, computer science education, and advancing the field of human-computer interaction.
