The Chainsmokers, an electronic DJ and production duo composed of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, have made a significant impact on the music industry with numerous awards, including a Grammy Award, two American Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards and nine iHeartRadio Music Awards. Their success began in 2015 with the release of their debut EP, "Bouquet," which included the hit single "Roses." Their first top-five single on the Billboard chart, "Don't Let Me Down," featuring Daya, won the Grammy Award for best dance recording, and their single "Closer," featuring Halsey, became their first No. 1 single on the Billboard chart.
The duo continued to rise in popularity with their debut studio album "Memories...Do Not Open," which topped the U.S. Billboard 200 chart after its release in April 2017. The Chainsmokers’ subsequent albums — "Sick Boy," "World War Joy," "So Far So Good" and "Summertime Friends" — also garnered significant attention, with "World War Joy" debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart in December 2019. Their extensive involvement in the music industry extends beyond creating music, as they also formed a film production company, Kick the Habit Productions, and performed at major events such as the 2016 MTV VMAs and the 2017 Brit Awards.
Despite facing criticism and legal issues for not adhering to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines during their charity concert "Safe & Sound" in July 2020, the Chainsmokers have remained active in the music scene. They took a hiatus in 2020 to focus on new music, during which they scored the soundtrack for the film "Words on Bathroom Walls." They returned in 2022 with their fourth studio album "So Far So Good" and distributed 5,000 NFTs related to the album’s streaming royalties. In 2024, they released an EP titled "No Hard Feelings" and continued to collaborate with various artists on new music. Their ability to consistently create popular music and navigate the ever-evolving music industry underscores their value as experts in their field.
