Tatiana Calderón

Tatiana Calderón is a Colombian professional racing driver known for her achievements in international motorsport. Raised in a family of car dealers, Calderón began racing go-karts at age 9 and became the first woman to win national karting championships in both Colombia and the United States. She has set multiple milestones for women in motorsports, focusing on performance and competition beyond gender distinctions.

Calderón advanced through the ranks of single-seater racing, becoming the first woman to score a podium in the British Formula 3 Series and in Formula V8 3.5 in Bahrain. After several seasons in the GP3 Series, she became the most successful female driver to compete in the F1 feeder series. Her performances led to a role as Test Driver for the Alfa Romeo F1 Team, making her the first Latin American woman to drive a Formula One car. Calderón also served as a development and test driver for Sauber Formula One, later known as Alfa Romeo Racing.

She became the first woman to race in the modern FIA Formula 2 Championship and to lead a lap in the series, highlighting her technical skill and racecraft. Calderón was the first female driver to compete in the majority of an IndyCar series since Danica Patrick and Ana Beatriz, joining the NTT IndyCar Series after competing in the World Endurance Series, Super Formula, and FIA Formula 2. She completed 87 laps in a test at Mid-Ohio with A.J. Foyt and was subsequently announced as a third driver for the team. Calderón returned to Formula 2 later that year, with her campaign interrupted by an accident at Monza resulting in a hand injury.

Her motorsport résumé includes endurance events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the IMSA SportsCar Championship, where she competes with Gradient Racing. Racing at Le Mans with the Richard Mille Racing Team, Calderón participated in an all-female lineup, starting and finishing the race in the top 10. She also serves as a test driver for the Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships. Calderón’s adaptability across sprint and endurance formats demonstrates her commitment to professional motorsport. She continues to advocate for inclusion in racing, encouraging new drivers to pursue opportunities in the industry based on skill and performance.
