Tara Spencer-Nairn Biography
She is a graduate of the prestigious Shawnigan Lake School, which she attended after her rebellious nature resulted in her leaving another private school on the island.
Tara Spencer-Nairn plays ‘Karen Pelly’ on the hit Canadian sitcom “Corner Gas”. The show, which has been airing to record numbers in Canada, was nominated for an International Emmy in 2004. Tara plays one of two small town small town police officers in a community where comedy is the norm. Tara most recently played the lead role in the Independent feature film THE THIRD EYE which will be released in the Spring of 2006. Her big break out came in the highly acclaimed film NEW WATERFORD GIRL which played at Sundance and the Toronto Film Festival. Tara garnered rave reviews for her portrayal of the pugnacious Lou, the Bronx-raised teenager who moves to a small Nova Scotia town and quickly turns it on its ear. Most recently she played ‘Kim Gretzky’ in the Walter Gretzky bio-pic “Waking Up Wally”.
Tara was nominated for a 2004 Canadian Comedy Awards for Pretty Funny Female Performance for her role as ‘Betty’ in the 2003 film RUB & TUG.
Tara has appeared in numerous television productions including Puppets Who Kill, Blue Murder, Wes Craven Presents: Don't Look Down, Cold Squad, Tom Stone and Relic Hunter.
She is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School, a resident of Vancouver and the youngest of three siblings.
