Tara Davis-Woodhall Biography
Tara Davis-Woodhall is a leading figure in track and field, recognized for her achievements in the long jump. Davis-Woodhall began her athletic career at Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, California, where she earned individual state titles in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. She continued her track and field career at the University of Texas, capturing NCAA indoor and outdoor championships in the long jump and breaking both indoor and outdoor long jump records. She was also named a Honda Sport Award finalist during her collegiate tenure.
After turning professional, Davis-Woodhall competed on the international stage, making her Olympic debut and finishing sixth in the long jump. She went on to win the gold medal in the long jump at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow and secured a silver medal at the World Championships in Budapest. Davis-Woodhall set a world record for the women's indoor long jump with a mark of 7.07 meters at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. She became the fourth American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in women's long jump.
