Tara Dall, MD

Dr. Tara Dall, MD, FNLA, is a board-certified lipidologist and preventive medicine specialist with a focus on early detection and prevention of heart disease and metabolic disorders. Recognizing the need for expanded cardiovascular primary prevention services, particularly among women and children, Dall transitioned from primary care to clinical lipidology. She graduated in the inaugural class of Diplomates of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. Dall received Mayo Clinic's Award for Innovations in Preventive Cardiology, and her Wisconsin clinic was recognized by the National Lipid Association as the first fully certified lipid clinic in the United States.

Dall's clinical practice emphasizes advanced biomarker testing to assess disease risk before traditional screening methods indicate concern. Her approach aims to identify early signs of heart disease and metabolic issues that can lead to diabetes, allowing for intervention before the onset of heart attacks or strokes. She founded the Early Detection Center for heart disease and diabetes near Madison, Wisconsin, and co-founded Lecturepad.org and FHITtv.org, web platforms dedicated to advancing clinical knowledge in lipidology and biomarker testing. Dall has contributed to biomarker and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) research, co-authoring publications on the role of insulin resistance in diabetes prevention.

Dall has held academic and leadership positions, including associate clinical professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin and clinical preceptor for the Waukesha family practice residency program, where she provided lipid clinic experience for medical trainees. She served on the executive board of the Midwest Lipid Association, including as president-elect, and was Chief Medical Officer of Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc., where she led efforts to expand biomarker assays and research in cardiometabolic risk.

Dall is recognized for her ability to communicate complex medical topics in accessible terms and is a frequent speaker on advanced biomarkers. She has appeared on CNN Radio, Bloomberg Radio, ESPN, Reach MD Satellite Radio, and RadioHealth Journal, as well as other local and national media outlets, and has been a keynote speaker for American Heart Association Go Red For Women events. Dall continues to practice through her concierge telemedicine service, providing specialized care in preventive cardiology and metabolic medicine, with expertise in both traditional and functional medicine.
