Tanya Torres

Tanya Torres is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), entrepreneur, and keynote speaker specializing in financial literacy and financial planning for underserved communities. As a first-generation American of Mexican heritage, Torres is among the small percentage of Latina CFPs in the finance industry. Her career was shaped by overcoming significant personal adversity, including a serious car accident prior to her final year at UC Irvine, after which she completed her degree following extensive recovery.

Torres began her professional journey at Merrill Lynch, where she was the only Spanish-speaking Latina in a market spanning from Santa Barbara to Century City. She managed a book of business exceeding $500 million in assets under management. After earning her Certificate in Financial Planning, Torres identified a gap in holistic financial planning for clients outside the ultra-high-net-worth segment. This realization led her to launch Power Planning, a company dedicated to providing planners, journals, and coaching to support individuals in their financial, personal, and business development.

Torres developed the "Power Planner," a weekly and monthly planner that offers education and guidance on financial planning topics such as debt repayment strategies, opening brokerage accounts, and investing. She also became a partner at One Oak, a financial planning firm focused on helping physicians achieve their financial objectives. Throughout her career, Torres has worked with clients nationwide, providing financial coaching and guidance through various life stages.

Torres has received the Woman to Watch Award from Connected Women of Influence and has been recognized as a Hispanic Lifestyle Latina of Influence for her leadership in the community. She is a frequent speaker at universities and local events, addressing topics such as "The Power of Pain," "Embracing Authenticity & Painting Your True Self," "Transformative Chaos," and "Mastering Money: Shifting Your Mindset from Chasing to Thriving."

Torres focuses her practice on serving high-earning, first-generation professionals and business owners, leveraging her expertise in financial planning, wealth management, and financial education.
