Tanya Simon

Tanya Simon is the executive producer of "60 Minutes," America's top-rated news program for over fifty years. An accomplished journalist with more than three decades of experience, she has played a vital role in many of the show's most high-profile stories and investigations. In April 2025, Simon was named interim executive producer, guiding 60 Minutes through its 2024–25 season, which marked the show's 51st consecutive year as television’s leading news broadcast, reaching over a third of Americans and averaging 8.33 million viewers each week.

Before assuming the top role, Simon served as executive editor for six seasons, overseeing coverage of major events, including the 2020 and 2024 U.S. elections, the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the Israel-Hamas conflict. She directed a wide range of segments, including interviews with Prince Harry, Caitlin Clark, and John Oliver, as well as features on the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral and a school in Rwanda for Afghan girls. Simon also produced a profile on tech entrepreneur Palmer Luckey and his AI-powered weapons firm.

Simon began contributing to "60 Minutes" in 2000, initially working with Ed Bradley on stories such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the Duke lacrosse case. Over the years, she produced reports for nearly every major 60 Minutes correspondent, including Steve Kroft, Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, Anderson Cooper, and her father, Bob Simon. Her notable work includes the first major television interview with Julian Assange, an Emmy-winning segment with Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, and investigations into Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal and James "Whitey" Bulger’s capture.

Starting her career at CBS News in 1996 with "48 Hours," Simon rose through the ranks from researcher to producer before joining "60 Minutes." Her work has earned multiple Emmy Awards, as well as a Peabody and a DuPont-Columbia Award. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Comparative Literature and lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.
