Talib Kweli

Talib Kweli, a Brooklyn-based MC, is recognized for his lyrical skill, social consciousness, and political insight in hip-hop. Kweli has established a reputation as a solo artist and through collaborations, notably as one-half of Black Star with Mos Def and as part of Reflection Eternal with producer Hi-Tek. His collaborative work extends to artists such as Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Just Blaze, J Dilla, and Madlib, demonstrating versatility across a range of instrumentals.

Kweli founded Javotti Media, an independent label that serves as a platform for independent artists and creators. Javotti Media releases music, films, and books, and has supported both Kweli's own projects and those of emerging artists, including a compilation mixtape highlighting new talent.

Kweli's discography features albums such as "Quality," "The Beautiful Struggle," "Eardrum," "Gutter Rainbows," "Prisoner of Conscious," "Gravitas," "Fuck the Money," and "Radio Silence." He expanded his creative work with the memoir "Vibrate Higher: A Rap Story," which received the PEN Oakland – Josephine Miles Literary Award.

Beyond music, Kweli is active in media and social activism. He launched the weekly podcast "The People's Party" and co-hosts "The Midnight Miracle" with Dave Chappelle and Yasiin Bey. Kweli has engaged with students and participated in events addressing social justice issues, including Occupy Wall Street and protests against police brutality. He continues to contribute to hip-hop culture through music, media, and advocacy.
