Tal Anderson is an actress, filmmaker, author, and autism advocate known for championing authentic disability representation in Hollywood. Diagnosed with autism in preschool, Anderson developed a passion for acting through improv classes and earned a Bachelor of Science in Film from Full Sail University. She is an alumnus of the CBS Leadership Pipeline and the Sony Diverse Actors Program, and trains at Nancy Banks Studio and the Groundlings for comedy and improvisation.
Anderson gained recognition for her role as Sid, an autistic college student on the Netflix series "Atypical," a part developed for her after an audition. She also portrayed Gia in Amazon Prime Video's "As We See It," guest-starred as Becca Sullivan on NBC's Magnum P.I., and voiced the lead character Tina in the Disney Plus series "Team Chocolate." Anderson earned further attention for her role as Becca King, the twin sister of Dr. Mel King, in the HBO Max medical drama "The Pitt," where her portrayal contributed to realistic representation of autism on screen.
In addition to acting, Anderson works behind the camera, editing exhibit videos for the Smithsonian Institution, including content for the exhibit "Japanese War Brides: Across a Wide Divide," and completing post-production on the feature documentary "Meandering Scars." She co-hosts the horror podcast "Hairy Yarns" with actor Kayla Cromer, and has received festival awards for directing, editing, and music in independent film projects.
Anderson's advocacy includes serving as the face of the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Delivering Jobs campaign in partnership with Best Buddies and Special Olympics, which featured national PSAs, magazine print ads, and a Times Square campaign. She is an ambassador for both Delivering Jobs and Awareness Ties, and is involved with organizations such as Disability Voices United and The Inspire Project. Anderson is the author of the children's book series "Oh, Tal!" created with autistic illustrator Michael Richey White, with the first installment, "Oh, Tal! Not Today," published by Violet Sky Media, and the second, "Oh, Tal! Not Like That," released during Autism Awareness Month. Proceeds from the books are donated to organizations supporting children with differences.
Anderson's work in entertainment, filmmaking, and advocacy continues to advance inclusion and disability rights in the industry.
