Taavi Madiberk

Taavi Madiberk is an Estonian entrepreneur recognized for his work in European deep technology and clean energy. Madiberk is the CEO and co-founder of Skeleton Technologies, a Global Cleantech 100 company and a European leader in high-power, fast-charging energy storage for transportation, grid, automotive, and industrial applications. He has co-founded three deep-tech companies with a combined valuation exceeding €1 billion, operating across artificial intelligence infrastructure, energy systems, and defense. Since founding his first company at age 21, Madiberk has raised more than €400 million from industrial and strategic investors.

Skeleton Technologies operates at the intersection of materials science and industrial-scale manufacturing. The company’s battery technologies utilize its patented curved graphene material, developed and produced by its subsidiary, Skeleton Materials. This material provides Skeleton’s products with advantages in power and energy density, while eliminating the use of cobalt, copper, nickel, or graphite. Skeleton Technologies is the only European battery company producing both its energy storage devices and its own raw material based on a widely available, low-cost material sourced in Europe. The company designs, manufactures, and deploys mission-critical power systems for AI data centers, modern grids, and defense, collaborating with global industrial leaders including Siemens, GE, Hitachi Energy, and Honda. Skeleton employs more than 300 people across Europe, the United States, and the UAE. The company has raised over €108 million in a single year and more than €300 million since inception.

Madiberk’s career reflects a focus on applying deep technology to address global challenges. The son of a scientist who worked with ultracapacitors, Madiberk developed an early interest in the field, which led him to establish Skeleton Technologies and commercialize graphene ultracapacitors for the European Space Agency and major industry partners. Prior to Skeleton Technologies, he served as the youngest chairman of the supervisory board at Estonian Railways Ltd. Beyond Skeleton, Madiberk is co-founder and chairman of the board at Frankenburg Technologies, a defense technology company specializing in industrial-scale production of advanced technologies.

Madiberk has received recognition across Europe’s innovation and business communities. He was included in the New Europe 100 project, which highlights challengers from Central and Eastern Europe leading innovation. He was also featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 for science and healthcare in Europe for his contributions to ultracapacitor technology. Äripäev named Madiberk Industrialist of the Year. Skeleton’s curved graphene technology received the European Inventor of the Year Award from the European Patent Office. The company was also named one of the World’s Top GreenTech Companies by TIME and Statista, ranking as the highest European company in energy storage and distribution.

Madiberk is an active voice on the future of energy and technology, engaging with policymakers and industry leaders. He has served as a board member of the European Innovation Council, where he initiated discussions to launch a €20 million fund supporting Ukrainian deep-tech startups and their integration into European ecosystems. He has also received the Merit of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for contributions to green technology. Madiberk has spoken at forums including the Milken Institute Global Conference, the Cleantech for Europe Summit, and the FT-EIB Global Investment Forum, advocating for Europe’s leadership in clean energy and artificial intelligence.
