Sydney Colson

Sydney Colson is a former professional basketball player known for her perseverance, adaptability, and longevity in women's basketball. Colson played college basketball at Texas A&M University, where she contributed to the Aggies' NCAA title win. As a three-time team captain, she led Texas A&M to multiple Big 12 Tournament titles and earned recognition as an Honorable Mention Associated Press All-America and All-Big 12 Conference selection. Colson ranks among the program's leaders in assists and steals and is a member of the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame.

Colson began her professional career as a second-round draft pick by the Connecticut Sun before being traded to the New York Liberty. Over her WNBA career, she has played for teams including New York, San Antonio, Minnesota, Las Vegas, and Chicago. Colson is one of the few players to have won both a WNBA title and an NCAA title. She played a key role in Las Vegas' back-to-back WNBA championships, contributing off the bench in numerous games.

Colson was nominated for the inaugural PBWA Tamika Catchings Award. Off the court, she served as an assistant coach at Rice University, where she helped lead the Owls to a WBI title. Colson is also a member and former chairperson of the Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball Player Executive Committee. She debuted her signature sneaker in partnership with Creative Control, becoming the brand's first signature shoe athlete and one of only a few WNBA players with a signature sneaker.

Colson has expanded her influence in women's basketball through media and entertainment. She co-created the unscripted comedy series "The Syd + TP Show" with former Las Vegas teammate Theresa Plaisance and has appeared on "The Daily Show." Colson joined the Indiana Fever after her tenure with the Las Vegas Aces, where she contributed to consecutive WNBA championships. As a point guard with championship experience and a decade-long career in the WNBA, Colson continues to impact the league both on and off the court, with interests in sports media and reporting.
