
Suzanne Cryer is an American actress whose career encompasses television, film, and theater. Cryer attended Yale University, earning a degree in English literature, and completed a master's degree from the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale, she performed at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, taking on roles such as Rosalind in "As You Like It" and Anne in "Richard III."
Cryer gained national recognition for her role as the "yada yada" girl on "Seinfeld," which she secured shortly after receiving her MFA. She originated the role of Lisa in Donald Margulies' play "Collected Stories" at South Coast Repertory and appeared in the West Coast premiere of Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia" at the Mark Taper Forum. On Broadway, Cryer originated the role of Josie in Neil Simon's "Proposals," directed by Joe Mantello. Her film debut was in Billy Bob Thornton's short "Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade," which was later adapted into the feature film "Sling Blade."
Cryer held a recurring role as the girlfriend of Berg on "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place," which evolved into a regular role as Berg's ex on "Two Guys and a Girl." She has appeared in a range of television series, including "Dexter," "CSI: Miami," "Bones," "Grey's Anatomy," and "Desperate Housewives." Cryer also played Jenna Paul in Freeform's drama series "The Fosters."
Cryer portrayed Laurie Bream in the second season of HBO's "Silicon Valley," playing the CEO of Raviga Capital, a character known for intelligence and social awkwardness. She also played Echidna in the Disney+ series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians." Cryer has returned to the stage, performing as Tracy Lord in "The Philadelphia Story" at Hartford Stage and appearing in Christopher Shinn's play "What Didn't Happen" at Playwrights Horizons.
After earning her undergraduate degree, Cryer taught sixth grade in the New York public school system. She continues to support elementary education, particularly arts education in Los Angeles public schools. Cryer has contributed to greening programs and arts and music supplements for students through grants and volunteer efforts, and she regularly assists with visual arts projects and drama programming in classrooms.
