Susie Essman is a stand-up comedian, actress, writer, and television performer best known for her roles on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and Comedy Central's "Broad City." Born in Mount Vernon, New York, she began her career as a stand-up comedian in the 1980s and went on to appear in numerous television shows, films, and comedy specials. With her rapid-fire delivery, New York sensibility, and famously profane wit, Essman has built a career spanning more than four decades in stand-up comedy, television, film, and voice acting.
Essman became a household name through "Curb Your Enthusiasm," where her fiery, outspoken portrayal of Susie Greene made her one of the show's most memorable characters. She has also appeared in films including "Punchline," "The Siege, and 'Keeping the Faith," and voiced the character Mittens in Disney's animated film "Bolt."
In addition to performing, Essman is the author of "What Would Susie Say?: Bullsh*t Wisdom About Love, Life and Comedy." She continues to perform stand-up and make television appearances, bringing the sharp, irreverent comedic style that has defined her career.
